It’s a little-known fact that rhinoplasty, commonly called a “nose job,” is the number one cosmetic procedure associated with revision surgery. While it is certainly true that a percentage of revision procedures are needed due to botched procedures performed by poorly qualified surgeons, many revision surgeries are needed for reasons completely out of the surgeon’s control.

Swelling may last for several months after the initial procedure, and it may not completely subside until a full year afterward. Many patients request revision surgery only months after their procedure when, at that point, the full results have not become manifest. All patients should wait at least a year after their first rhinoplasty procedure before considering revision surgery.
