The Perfect Season for Plastic Surgery

Posted November 30, 2015 in Plastic Surgery Advice, Recovery

Fall and winter are the perfect seasons to undergo plastic surgery. It is true that, in general, scheduling surgery isn’t convenient because you must account for time off work and other interruptions to your daily routine. Nonetheless, these inconveniences cannot begin to outweigh the cosmetic and health benefits that surgery can provide. Therefore, people often wait to undergo elective surgery until the timing is right so as to minimize any inconveniences and maximize all the benefits. Here are several reasons why the perfect time of year to undergo plastic surgery is during the colder seasons.

Minimal Sun Exposure

Many cosmetic procedures require patients to avoid prolonged sun exposure during recovery, which is difficult to manage during long summer days. During the fall and winter, the days are shorter and the sun is lower in the sky, which makes it easier for patients to avoid the sun. Schedule your laser skin resurfacing, facelift, or other similar procedures during the fall and winter to help minimize your exposure to harmful sun rays that could damage your results.

A Slower Time of Year

Summertime is the most popular time of year for activities and vacations. During the summer, there are barbecues to go to, beach houses to visit, vacations to go on, and parties to attend. During the fall and winter, vacations and activities are less common, and people spend more time at home and work. By scheduling your plastic surgery procedure during this time, you will be less likely to miss out on exciting activities as your body recovers. This will give you ample time to recover well and enjoy the results of your procedure.

More Clothing

In cold weather seasons, we bundle up in jackets, coats, gloves, scarves, and sweaters to keep ourselves warm. The cold weather provides a perfect opportunity to wear layers of clothing that hide surgical incisions. As it takes several months for surgical incisions to begin to fade, scheduling your plastic surgery procedure during the fall or winter will give your incisions plenty of time to fade before the summer and swimsuit season.

Time Off Work

During the spring and summer, most of your coworkers will be competing for time off for vacations and travel plans. During the fall and winter, many workplaces close for the holidays or are more understanding of using vacation days. In January and February after the holiday season, few people want to take time off work, which makes it easier for you to do so as there will be others around to carry the workload in your absence. Take advantage of the opportunity to take time off work for plastic surgery and recovery during the fall and winter.
